Didn't know if this was of interest to anyone, my T610 was going to be going back to CPW, and I thought I would wait for a W23, not an upgraded W19 like I got.

I did a reset settings and a reset all, then decided to play a bit further. All the voice commands that wouldn't work yesterday, ie change profile and dial numbers, now work first time, every time.

The themes that were on the phone when it was delivered are now all gone, except for Classical, and likewise there is only five ringtones instead of the 20/30 or so it had on it when delivered.

Does this mean someone else has had this phone and added themes and tones, or has it deleted stuff that is on there when it comes from SE as new?

One other thing I have noticed, the signal meter is now much more stable, it was doing the T68 thing, of 1 bar to 5 bar to 1 to 2 bar to 5 bar etc whilst sitting still on the kitchen table, now it is much more stable (nearer the four or five bar end of the scale).

So what does all this mean then people

No on the T610 (unlike the T300) a master reset WILL in fact erase all (or most) of the predefined stuff (ringtones, themes and such). So nobody owned the phone before you. It's just that

prolly learned their lesson on that respect. Probably also you wap profiles/data accounts were deleted? So you have a nice blank phone now

A question about voice dialing:

I was browsing thru the Service Menu / Text labels and saw some text lines that never appear in the T68i / T610 menus (I know a discussion about this was held a while ago)... But still it's interesting... there are lines which say, for example: "Say ONE after the tone...", "Say NINE after the tone..."... which i believe is a way to learn a phone to know the digits so you can randomly call a number, instead of a predefined one which is assigned to a contact.

Or am I too stupid to think this way? ;-P

ermm.. u actually want MORE predefined items????

well to see the "other side" of the argument, own a T300, and see how half your memory is used up on "predefined" crap that you cant delete!

You can get all the original stuff from SE web site. or back up all the stuff before u do the master reset.

As an aside note, yes the phoen is usually far more stable after a master reset. this was a sympton of the T68i too.
