ok, currently I am on o2 payg sim, and returned my t610 as a result of the hiss, so my thoughts are to go with the contract option on o2, with the t610! for £20month, get 50mins free, n e network, etc etc
just wodering about the wap thing, on my payg sim, I often use wap vian gprs, so its free 300mins every month, biut on contract its 500 mins free but also mentions, 0.5 mb free, so after download half a MB they will start to charge me?
just confused a bit

I'm now on the Leisure Time Plus tariff (£20 a month, 500 off-peak minutes, 50 off-peak x-net minutes & 100 texts).
If you use WAP over GPRS its £5 per megabyte downloaded. If you use WAP using the O2 dial-up number it comes off your free minutes (off-peak).
There are GPRS bundles which lower the per megabyte charge, but they're quite costly unless you really are going to use GPRS alot.
So, actually PAYG users seem to get a better deal for GPRS!

You can port your O2 online PAYG number to a new O2 online contract without problem. Just make an order for the new contract, then immediately after email O2 (mycare@o2mail... (can't remember if co.uk or com, so go through the site)) with your order number, and old phone number etc etc asking them to change it over. They'll deliver the new phone & SIM, you'll have a different number for about a week and they'll give you a transfer date for the change to take place. It might take several hours on that day, but at least you know when to expect it.
Girlfriend had it done about 2 months ago, all was fine after the transfer date - just have to put up with a different number for a few days.

To keep my PAYG number I had to get a PAC code from O2 (call them on 08705 214000) because I bought my T610 through Carphone Warehouse and they're effectively another service provider, even though I'm staying on the same network. For the first 10 days after getting the T610 I was still on PAYG, then the contract kicked in. Strangely, even though I'm now on contract I can still call the O2 Top-up line and check my PAYG balance. There's still £3.50 on there. Not sure whether this will disappear at some point. Maybe if I go back to PAYG after a year on contract, the £3.50 will still be there!!
According to the latest O2 tariff infomation I've got, GPRS data transfer is charged as follows:
If you're on a low value tariff (If you're on a high value tariff (>£25 a month) it's £2.35 per megabyte
Or if you want you can pay an extra £12.00 per month for 5mb and then its £1.50 per megabyte after the first 5mb
Or, you can pay an extra £46.99 (!) a month for which you get 36mb and then its £1.16 per megabyte after the first 36mb.

Just curious, is that .5MB for web GPRS (where as you can access to internet through http?) or just WAP, cuz I will only use wap.
btw: O2 dial-up number it uses your free WAP mins right? and not your regular mins? I guess I can use that but will be slower...
