hi...
i'm one of those poor ppl who want to get a 610 but still can't find a week 21 or later instrument. i went hunting yesterday too but was disappointed to find only week 18 phones.
at one shop the owner himself was using a week17 phone, pretty nice guy, i asked if i could see his phone and for the first time i got to use a t610! (the phone was one month old)
i love the phone and can't wait to get mine but pls somebody clear a couple of my doubts...
1) everywhere i've read that the t610 has a much faster menu speed as compared to the t68i, i myself own a t68i so i am sure when i say this that the menu speed on the t610 which i had in my had pathetic menu speed. evrything took soooooo much time.... especially going into the games folder. so can somebody pls tell is this the problem with older phones in general or just this handset coz i've never seen anyone complain abt the t610 menu speed on this forum.
2) the screen was not particularly good either, i've read abt the flickering but never knew it would be to the extent i saw on this phone. especially while playing games, what bugged me wa that there was a lot of flickering even when going between menus. is this the case with all the phones out there?
i asked the guy abt the hissing problem and he said it was occassional and not bad, i mean he said he could live with it. it was a pleasure to listen to the tones... so sharp n clear. one question abt the tones too, abt the ascending tone feature, is it still there on the newer 610 handsets or have the SE ppl listened to the countless user complaints on this issue and removed it or given it as an option.
one last thing, i read somewhere on this forum in a thread that u can't write on the sim memory on the t610, is it true? someone said that for storing nos to the sim one has to put the sim in another phone and the store nos on it and then put it back in the t610???? sounds real ridiculous if its true!
thanx for reading guys... pls do give ur inputs.

I don't know if my answers are good because I only had the phone for an hour or so.
1) The spped of the menu is fast the only thing I noticed that the pictures in the picture menu were kinda slow (showing up that is) but the speed in general was better than t68i
2) screen was great so there is no doubt about that, pictures are better looking than the p800 pictures...

Mine is week 23, and I think I have a faulty one as there's a shitload of flickering. I'm not very impressed by the menu speed either, if it had been faster the phone would have been almost perfect....I think it's pretty slow on SMS as well....

Mine is week 21, and I haven't noticed any problems with the screen. For some reason it is a bit slow going into the games folder, but the My Picture and My Sounds don't seem any slower than their T68i counterparts.

geez guys... the more n more i read abt ppls reviews the more scared i get. Alasken said he has a week 23 phone and still has a major flickering problem and slow menu speed as well.
now that i've personally seen the flickering and slow menus i know how irritating that can be.
the problem in kuwait is that once i buy the phone i cannot return it back, and i don't want to buy a brand new phone and give it to the service center (if the have one here!) and have to wait for week(s) for it to be repaired. this is just not done, how can SE put out a phone with so many faults in the market???? don't they have a troubleshooting/testing department??? and i also can't help but wonder what do they do with all the faulty 610's ppl have returned till now, do they just fix the problem and change the week sticker??
somebody pls tell me.... should i buy a week 21 or later phone as soon as i get one or should i wait for another month or two till all the probs are resolved. the phone ought to get cheaper by then too
thanx a lot for ur inputs, i really appreciate it.

Well, I don't think I have a slower menu than other ppl do, but I still think it's a bit too slow. Guess I'm too used to Nokia speed. I do feel that I'm waiting a lot, and sms writing is a lot slower than what I'm used to.
I would buy the phone now, if you get the chance to check before you buy it whether it has a hissing problem or not. I don't think a lot of the t610s out there have the screen flickering problem.

Alasken:
i don't think i can check the phone before buying it, coz the battery has to be kept for charging atleast for 12-16hrs for the first time before switching on the phone... don't think the shop owner will allow that.
and i don't think any phone after week21 have a hissing problem, its the screen flickering/pulsating problem i'm concerned with.
and mate, don't scare me by saying that all t610's out there have menu speeds that slow!!!

anyone out there with a real fast t610??? i really have to know!!
