> Anyone care to post a t610 on Orange review?
Bookmark topic
After getting a 'quiet' t610 and returning it to CPW - I'm cautious of getting it wrong again ...
With that in mind could someone who has taken the plunge and got one on orange give us all a mini review....
1: What week number and R number Wxx Rxx
2: Whats the overall volume like - is max ring and earpiece volume at a level thats acceptible for outdoor use - my voda t610 was way to quiet?
3: Any Hiss apparent ?
4: Have Orange left the phone largely untouched - do all the shortcuts work ok - esp the ringer off , bluetooth shortcuts....
or have they messed up the firmware like the vodafone branded ones..
5: How does it perform with bluetooth headsets - does it crackle and pop?
6: Screen brightness - I found the model I had a little dark even with the contrast boosted.
7 : Anything else worthy of a mention...
Thanks in advance !

Had one (from CPW) and returned it with problems - thats why I'm keen to find out how the orange handsets are..... I'm not really prepared to 'gamble' any more.

1. w23r3 or something like that its one of the non hissing batch
2.dont wear an ear piece but the ring volume is quiet loud once it gets going if you set it on max going to knock mine down 1 as its a bit to loud
3.no apparent hiss
4.the phone is largely untouched bar the orange logo on bottom of the phone.the menu you refer to has bluetooth, inra red lock keys silent post note and status in it
5.dont have a head set so cant comment on that
6.brightness seems good alot better than my t68i

I had a long play on the Orange T610 today:
First menu icon is replaced with a little Orange logo (looks like an orange house), and goes straight to the Orange WAP homepage. This can be changed in the WAP Profiles I think.
The second icon (Orange Services) keeps the

icon, but goes to an offline Orange page, with links to pictures, sounds, sports info, etc...
The rest of the phone seems pretty much unaffected - the startup and shutdown sequences are

ones, although there is an orange logo on the front of the casing.
There are only 2 themes available - Orange and Classical. The "More Themes" link in the Multimedia menu takes the phone to

theme download page, so not a problem there. Tried downloading BlueVision, but was taking ages... and the manager wanted his phone back!
There are 4 polyphonic (Digirain, Attraction, Old Phone, SonyEricsson), and 1 monophonic (SonyEricsson) tones on the phone. The "More Sounds" link takes you to the
Orange download page - However, you can log on to (through WAP) sonyericsson.com/fun/ to download more of the

tones.
There are loads of Orange pictures on the phone, and they all look like pictures of cheese

The "More pictures" link takes you to an Orange site

but again, you can log on to

wap site (or esato!) to get more free pictures
The games menus had the Minigolf game, and a link to the Orange site for downloading more games, but I don't remember(?) seeing FiveStones or DeepAbyss. Both can be downloaded free from

, as well as others like AlienScumm.
Total Memory Free was 17xx kb, almost the full 2 MB!
One off thing is that the phone had WAP settings for both contract and PAYG dial-up and GPRS settings. Maybe they are selling the one phone for both PAYG and contract (although PAYG will have PAYG GPRS selected)... Good news for those who want a PAYG phone for their contract SIM - no need to download new settings!
Can't remember anything else of importance... but, I didn't notice ANY flickering on the screen, couldn't test the phone for hissing, phone was R3B (I think), 03W23...

Thats not bad at all, hopefully someone will create a nice flash/firmware to kill all the orange stuff...
But regardless its only 300k loss of Orange stuff... got a bit of space for other cool stuff:)

@kidscruff
and
@slattery69
Many thanks for the info - exactly the type of thing i was after. If only I can be assured the orange handsets work ok with a bluetooth headset I might just take the plunge again ....
ta muchly
ps
Still undecided as to whether to switch networks from voda to orange.
I'm quite happy on voda but dont want a branded live! handset. O2 is another option but I have bad memories of their customer service and overcharging for roaming.
