Man am i annoyed!!

I got my p800 from Orange about a month ago and got it flashed staright away up to R2F. Everything was grand until after having it for 3 weeks, the speaker stopped working for mp3's and videos, so i returned it to the shop to replace it under warranty. No troble there, they just gave me a new one.

I took it up to my local SE service centre this morning and put it in to get flashed, 2 hours later i returned to pick it up and was told that the software had been taken off without any problems, however, they were unabl eto put the new, upgraded software back onto it!

They said their was an rumour that Orange had put some kind of hardware lock on the new P800's so that they were not upgradable! Apparently to stop it from becoming sim free (which happens when you upgrade)

So, now I have to wait 14 days for the SE Centre to sne dit away to their main warehouse/head office place and replace the handset! 14 days without me mobile! And all because those sanctimonius gits at Orange want to limit what you use "your!" handset for! Where do they get off!

Bunch of Arse! Thats what I say!

A very P@ssed off PTM.

Don't worry - they're feeding you a line.

I've not heard of any such rumour, plus I had mine flashed to R2F and the SIM lock is still there.

Orange would be daft to do such a thing, and I doubt it's possible.

Sometimes the P800 doesn't flash properly first try - if you get no joy from them take it to a different service centre - there are quite a few around now.

Just had faulty handset replaced by orange and it has full R2F firmware installed so I can't see why they would want to block firmware upgrades.

To be honest, i couldn't think of a reason at the time either. I'm mean, to what end would they block this?

It was the service centre who said that it was to stop the sim block from coming off.

I had my first phone flashed with no problems at all too.

I've had my phone flashed several times and it has never taken away the service provider lock. I think the service centre didn't flash the phone properly.
