Between two computers you can send files of any type.

Between a computer and a phone you would usually only want to send files that the phone understands, such as ringtones, games, pictures and address book entries.

Other bluetooth devices such as printers, PDAs etc. can send and recieve other types of files.

The range on bluetooth phones around 10m so there wouldn't be much point in sending an SMS - you're better off just talking to the other person!!

But, no, you can't send SMS via bluetooth - its a network service. You can send address book entries to other bluetooth phones within a 10m radius though (assuming they have BT turned on!)

Like I posted previously, you can send pictures, games, sounds, themes and address book entries. You can't send a message by bluetooth!

Yes, you can send messages via bluetooth, though not SMS.
This thread that I mentioned in my previously reply is all about sending messages to other phones using bluetooth!

Don't confuse matters... That thread just describes sending a contact with the name field modified, not a message!

Messaging is a two way process - the recipient of a contact via Bluetooth can't reply and enter into a conversation all they can do is add it to their phonebook. Why would you want so-called "messages" messing up your phonebook?

well I don't want to get into an argument about what is a message and what isn't but...

My dictionary defines a message as:

"A usually short communication transmitted by words, signals, or other means from one person, station, or group to another. "

This doesn't mention anything about having to receive a reply.

If I send you an SMS, it is a message!, even if you don't reply.

By this bluejacking technique you are still sending a message albeit by using an unusual function in the phone.

Anyway, the original poster asked what can be 'sent' by bluetooth, not what can be 'sent and received' by bluetooth, so I thin it is you who are confusing matters by being just a little bit pedantic.
