I am sure this has been mentioned before, but there seem to many replies that contradict each other, so i wanted to clear it up.
when i updated my T68 to the T68i firmware, i went to carphone warehouse service centre in guildford, gave it to them for a couple hours and then got it back, free, and i didn't even buy it there.
would the same be possible with my new T610, or will i have to take it to a service centre and will it cost me?
also, can you update the firmware on any phone? i only heard about it when i got my T68. my friend has a nokia 6210 without T9, but i have it with it on, can he update his firmware, and will it cost him?
man, so many questions, so little time

Updates are free if the phone is in warrenty. You usually need a receipt but sometimes you dont lol. You can update any phone as far as i know. This message was posted from a T300

They should be free, but if you don't have a warranty it's very expensive (Nokia: 250!). Every phone can be updated (hey, every phone has been flashed once!). This message was posted from a T300

I did the same about a year ago in Sheffield Carphonewarehouse took the phone (T68 overnight and gave it back to me ...... exactly the same as it went in.

Celestica on the otherhand kept the phone for about 2 weeks, lost the case, but returned the phone with the correct T68i firmware (R2E).

Having said that, they sent me a spare battery as they couldn't find my case so I was well chuffed with the deal.

So , I can't say I have great confidence in Carphonewarehouse to do the job.

In both cases the cost was zero!
