Just some very minor bug fixes as been told by Fleet Communications here in London. I'll wait for a newer firmware with more improvement like video or something. (only wishing) Byt he way, you can check http://sep800.mine.nu/files/Update/Update.html as well for the difference so call.

Only crap annoying thing with the R2F is that in order 2 access the phonebook in flip on mode, u gotta meddle with the jogdial instead of just presing OK like with the old firmware. It has the call list option instead there now.

I was annoyed that it was so difficult 2 access the redial list before, but obviously, i knew u could just dial 0#, so i could live with it, now its just plain bloody annoying that I gotta actually look at the phone to access the contacts, just enough time for a thief to snatch it outta my hands...althou i have insurance, but heh I jus really dont wanna b inconvienienced!

@indianbwoy

(1) You can access the phone book by pressing jog-dial up then in, which you should be able to do in one motion, almost as easily as just clicking it.

(2) Alternatively just go to Control Panel / "Flip closed shortcuts" and set the icons back to having Contacts in the middle or whichever way round you like.

There are lots of changes in R2 over R1 it's worth upgrading if you use your phone a lot. The bluetooth in particular has been much improved but other things too, like SMS delivery reports, full screen pictures (built in), audio available in flip-closed mode, night mode for camera, various bugs fixed. However you'll lose all your data and you cannot restore from a PC suite backup (although you can re-synchronise from Outlook, but you will probably lose some phone numbers) so be prepared for some manual effort to get your phone back to how it was before. Suggest you write down all your GPRS and other connection settings; they'll all be gone after the upgrade.

Or take a gamble that R3 will be out in the next few months and wait for that.

@indianbwoy, why don't you change your flip closed shortcut layout then; put the phonebook in the middle so that u could just press the ok button once.

@ hippo or anyone

I tried to back-up my data using the pcsuite before upgrading my p800 from R1d-->R2d. then after restoring it again using the pcsuite I noticed that the Phone, Bluetooth and Organizer are now carrying the new version EXCEPT for the CDA which was degraded back to the old version, My question is: 1) Do I need to re-flash it back to a SE service center again? 2) What is the difference between a upgraded CDA version and an older CDA version? 3) Presently If my p800 's firmware has only the older CDA version but the ( Phone, Bluetooth and Organizer version ) has already been upgraded will it still be having some bugs problem? Or is it already fixed? Pls. Help Thanks

@cdcjr

It's generally believed that restoring from an R1 backup does overwrite some of the files upgraded by your R2 upgrade. The change in version number for CDA (I don't know what this stands for either) is certainly evidence of this, but there may well have been other things overwritten even though the other version numbers are similar.

If it were me, I'd go back and get it re-flashed. Instead of restoring from a backup, try synchronising in and out of Outlook around your upgrade - that will restore most of the data (note that you lose some phone numbers) and stuff any movable apps or data onto a memory stick before the upgrade so as not to have to re-install or lose them too. I'm sure you thought of this!
