Just got my t610 yesterday. Very very impressed with it but I must say the signal strength is appaling. I live in a poor reception area as it is but my Nokia 6310i always got a couple of bars. This always says SOS calls only.

The bar isn't very good either, it shows different colurs and bars and I've no idea what it means, I've had about 4 green bars which I would assume meant good reception but it still only says SOS calls only! Other times i've had one red bar which I would assume meant bad signal but my operator logo shows! Can anyone explain how the signal indicator works, especially the different colours.

Also, does anyone know where I can get a SMALL signal booster that I can put on my phone and does anyone know if they actually work? I'm in the UK.

Thanks,

Matt

Hi, I take it you may be on T-Mobile?

If so, there have been problems with T-Mobile across the board with ANY phone at the moment. Its not nessasailry a SE problem, but a problem with all newer phones. SOmethign to do with 3G upgrades i have been told.

I dont know if this is true, but I was told it has somethign to do with the transmitters mistaking the phone to be a 3G phone, and not allowing it to register properly. The is a problem i have seen with Sony Ericsson, AND ANY never 2.5g phone.

As for the Signal strength meters, you are right, red means poor, yellow mean average, gree means good. When your operator logo shows, it is measuring the strength of your "home operator". WHen it says "SOS Calls only" it is measuring the strnegth of the nearest operator (the phone will log into another operators network for emergency calls if your operator signal strength is not good)

I agree... the signal strength is quite bad compared to the other phones I've had (Siemens m35i, Nokia 3650).
