Yes there is hiss, but it isn't "the hiss" you've read so much about - this is normal, 'comfort noise'.

If you have "the hiss" the phone is silent when the person you are calling isn't speaking, if it's comfort noise it will be present during these periods.

"The hiss" has a very distorted sound; comfort noise is a quiet, clean sound - the sort of thing you hear if you turn an amplifier to maximum volume and put your ear near the speaker.
Hope this helps !

I second everyone else. Mines a week 23 and no hiss. I've just ordered a Bluetooth adapter though and so I'll so find out about the other alleged problems with thatb function.

Keeping my fingers crossed...

I have a W22 R3A got my W19 R2A exchanged on friday @ CPW. No problems with the new one thus far!

I am gonna get a BT adapter, and use the £20 price promise rebate voucher they are gonna send me. How can they charge so much for the HBH 60???!!!!!

What is the definitive position on "hissing" 610's. I've just picked up my 6th one from CPW! (WK 22 R3A) It didn't hiss in the shop which is why I took it and now after a few uses it sometimes hisses and sometimes doesn't. This doesn't really depend on the speaker volume or the profile used. I haven't yet tested it on bluetooth handsfree.

When posters say they have a fault free phone what do they mean? Does the phone never have any backgound hiss?

Should I return the phone and get a week 23 or later. Will this definately be fault free?
