Gone on then kids, let me know your thoughts on this one.

Option 1:
Keep my T68i (£25 per month), and buy an AximTM X5 Dell Pocket PC (for about £250).

Option 2:
Upgrade the T68i to a P800 (for about £250).

What would you do?

I agree - in principal.

However, the PDA is *never* gonna allow me to do even a fraction of what my desktop PC will do (it'll kill MS Word files etc. if I try and edit them.)

So, on the basis that a phone+PDA is just a really fancy P800, then I'd rather the P800 since unless I spend a fortune on the PDA, I don't get .

Oh yeah - b'jacking rocks bigtime.

I do a sh*t commute to work, but it's made much more bearable as the train's always full of easy-meat Nokia-dopes with their laptops (mind you - I hit the guy next to me the other day; a close call!).

Back on subject though, with the PDA option, I'd have the T68i; but data comm via IrDA's junk compared to ...

Well i can see the dilemma - one question though, which would certainly decide it for me:

When you say upgrade to a P8 for £250, do you literally mean taking out an upgrade and keeping the T68i too? Or does that price actually involve getting rid of the T68i?

The P800 is an excellent mobile device/PDA, with acceptable phone functionality. However, it is even better if you have a smaller handset to back it up (hence my P800 & T610 pairing) for when you just want a phone. Similar to the way you can either take out your T68i and the PDA, or else leave the PDA at home and just take the phone when going clubbing/to the gym etc; you can instead take either the P800 or the smaller backup out depending upon your desire. You thus never have to take out two devices, but you always have everything you need on the one device you do have on you.

It would be different i think if you only had the P800. While it would still be bearable most of the time, you may occasionally find yourself wishing you had a smaller backup handset on you instead, if all you are doing is texting and/or calling people at the time (though a good :bt: headset helps out with calls).


As for a PDA with :BT: from CPW - Siemens pocket LOOX 600 goes for £299.99. Don't know if it's any good, or even if it's a palm, a PPC or what - but you may wish to investigate it.

Got rid of my T300 + Palm combo and gotten the P800. No regrets... maybe just P8's size (just a little)...

I had option 1, bought the P800, tried it for three months then went back to option 1 (though now with T610).

I don't always want to carry my pocketpc so when I want I can just take my T610 with me. Also the screen on my ipaq is fantastic compared to the p800 and pocket IE is superior to opera, can be used in landscape mode... also msn, yahoo and icq are fully supported by the companies themselves, not by some 3rd party trying to make an all in one. etc etc etc... I could go on for ages... glad I dumped that beast!

Go for the t68i + pda. I got the palm tungsten t paired with my t68i and t610. Much better to have the option to leave the pda at home when you don't need it. And besides, tungsten got bluetooth.. It completaly rocks shit! This message was posted from a T610
