Hi all,

I have just purchased a t610 on the orange network (contract). I have configured the handset to recieve two different pop3 email accounts.

I connect and download my emails without any problems over Orange GPRS. The problem arrises when I change my prefered email account. when i change any emails that i have fully downloaded (header + text) completly disappear. (even if i revert back to my previous email account account they do not re-appear)

After doing some further experiments i noticed that emails i have download into my inbox are automatically erased after a period of time (roughly 1 hour), even without changing my prefered email account.

So, I guess my question is, has anyone else experienced their emails being automatically erased from their inbox?
If I save all my recieved emails to Archive will I get around this problem?

I have done a search but can not find anyone else that has reported this problem.

any advice most appreciated

Kind regards

Dan

I can say that I have never found my emails to be automatically deleted.

Could it be that after you downloaded them (using send and receive) to your phone you then downloaded them to your pc (causing them to be deleted from the POP3 server) or in some other way deleted them from your POP3 server (webmail etc)? and then subsequently done a send and receive on the T610 again?

If so the phone would see that the messages were deleted from the server and hence delete them from the phone.

Ahhh

I see, so when i do a 'send and recieve' if the emails i have previously downloaded have been cleared from my email sever (webmail etc) then any email that where previously in my t610 inbox are removed from the phone because they are no longer on my mail server.

Thats must be it. ! BUT THATS SEEMS DAFT!

But still i would prefer my inbox contents to remain unchanged regardless if my mail server no longer contains any emails.

if you check your emails on your t610 in the day and then go home in the evening and check your emails on their home computers also. (thus clearing the mail server). Your next 'send and recieve' will then delete all mails in your inbox (as you have just cleared them from your mail server by checking them on your home PC)

Rule is that you must move the emails that you want to keep into your archive.

Have I understood correctly?

many thanks

yes, exactly. After each send and receive on the phone, your phone inbox will be left with only the messages that are still on your pop3 server, if any.
