this thread I was involved in a while back which might also help you decide how you would like to set the contrast. As I rfecall, you can set it finer in the service menu than you can in the display menu.

Like gseth, I also changed the contrast in the service menu by mistake...
Finaly gseth asked SE about the settings, and they wrote:
"Regarding your concern, unfortunately the handset does not have a default contrast setting. Could you please set the contrast so that the level is exactly between the minus 40 and plus 40."
If I do that my display is way to bright... I'm a little concerned about the settings, because the way SE replies: Could you please set the contrast so that the level is exactly between the minus 40 and plus 40."
It's sound like it's important that you don't change the settings in the service menu!!!
Hope you know what i'm talking about...
