> question about phones with speakerphone

on phones that have the speakerphone option, any brand i just want to know how it stops feedback like what the other person is saying coming out loud through the speaker not getting sent back to them
is the microphone turned off when the other person talks ? or is it some sort of noise cancelling doohicky

Dont know about any other phone but on the P800 l guess thats why the speakers on the back but saying that whenever l use the speakerphone the other person complains about noises on there end
