But the T610 and I were just not meant to be. I fear that will be the case for most people, sadly. Between the awful display and worse RF reception, she's just not easy to live with, even if she is nice to look at and hold and is a lot of fun.
So for now, I will have to pin my hopes on the forthcoming V600 from Motorola and X70 from Panasonic to fulfill my needs for a good Bluetooth phone. We can always hope that there will be a T610i in the future that will address these issues, but by then it could be too late.

His complaints were pretty much the same as most of the initial T610 users here. I think that if he was reviewing the T616, the review might have been a little better.

The 1900Mhz band is probably not as good as the 900Mhz/1800Mhz just like on the T68. Also comparing dedicated 1900Mhz phones reception with triple band phones are kind of misleading, since they will have antennas which are finetuned for just 1900Mhz (I don't know if he did that though). The T616 is for the US market and the T610 is for the "standard" GSM bands.

This makes alot of sence I'm no expert in the subject either but
had some experience in other eareas of wireless transmissions
and seen you had to buy diff antennes for diff freq.

I've hade the chance to use my T610 for a sunny day on the beach now and I have to say that either is my phone different from the reviewers (not likely) or he definetly needs to get his eyes checked. I could see what was on the display all the time, even when wearing sunglasses. Sure it's easier to see it in darker conditions but I could see well enough to play games etc. My confidence in this reviewer isn't much after this...

I was not. I was using the underwather one, whatever it was called.

But in any event, the review was a bit harsh. A bit. I'll be amending it shortly.
The display is still crap, just not 100% useless - if you have the right theme (and don't happen to be playing a game with a dark background).
I'm trying to get another T610 to bring with me to France later this week to give it a chance on the 900/1800 network.
I would review the T616 if SE could actually get me one, but so far - no dice.

I agree with you. I've been trying out the T610 in very bright sunlight the last couple of days and I've had no problems reading the screen. I find it just as readable as the T68 is under bright sunlight. Sure it's not as good as indoors, but no problems reading it. I used wap for quite some time in bright sunlight and I had no problems. And if you turn the phone towards the sun it gets even easier to read it (exactly like the T68)
Regarding RF-reception, I have no complaints at all. It is as good as the T68 or maybe a little better. I managed to use wap in one place where I had troubles connecting eith my old T68i before. In that place I got one bar on the T610, but with the T68 it was pending between 1 and zero bars. This is in Sweden and on the 900Mhz GSM band.
Sure this is only one place where I usually try to use my phone (at work during lunch). But I find the reception just as good as with my old T68.
The bluetooth of the T610 seems to be better than on the T68i as well. (I know about the crackling when using a bluetooth handsfree but I don't have a bluetooth handsfree). I'm talking about connecting the computer to the T610, it works flawlessly, unlike with the T68 where I had some problems a few times, especiallly when sending stuff to the phone.
