> connecting to net via infra-red on t300
Bookmark topic
I've installed the modem drivers for the t68 (seems to work for the t300) and now I want to surf the net on my laptop on gprs. I'm with o2 and not sure how to go about it.
Thanks.

ok assuming you have a GPRS data account set up on the phone and activated by O2 you will need to find out what CID number corresponds to that data account. Go to Connect, Data Comm, Data account and find that GPRS data account and click on it. There you will see the CID.
You don't mention what operating system you are using on your pc so assuming you know how to dial out and know how to make that use the IR modem then all you need to know is that you need to dial the following number
*99***n#
where n is the CID you found earlier. Normally no username or password are required so thats it!

Sounds possibly like you are using the WAP CID and not the GPRS CID.
Worth double checking...

It's definetly the GPRS CID.

ok, well if you are definitly using the correct GPRS CID and you definitly have GPRS active (presumably since you say you get connected) then lets check further.
it might be helpful to know exactly what error you get when attempt to connect to a web page.
Also try opening a command window and execute these commands
ping
www.sonyericsson.com
ping 194.97.51.205
if the first ping fails but the second ping works then its probably a DNS error and maybe you are missing a DNS setting in your GPRS data account setup.
After that I can't think of anything else so go through it with O2 support I guess.

The ONLY site it will bring up is the o2 homepage (http://www.o2.co.uk).
