Hi,
I know this is not strictly relevant so please accept my apologies for posting but I've just purchased a t610 on O2 Online 200 tariff.
The tariff has some special international roaming thing on it which enables me to get cheaper calls when abroad. however, when I phoned o2 and asked if I could use the phone abroad they said I had to be a customer for 3 months! So i'm paying for a special call discount which I can't use for a quarter of my contract!!! Muppets!!!
Anyway, has anyone just got a new phone on o2 online which they've been able to use abroad without having to awit three months?
Thanks,
Matt

Had my O2 online contract for ages, coming to 3 years now and they've always been great abroad. Half the time they forget to charge you for text messages (but don't count on it!)
Don't think i ever had to enable roaming the first time i went abroad - my experience isn't very helpful to you, as I'm talking back in the days of Genie really, but my girlfriend's might be more so:
She changed from O2 online PAYG to O2 online contract in february/March. She's just been in Canada and now in France, and I'm certainly receiving messages from her - so i presume her SIM is working! However, whether she was just out of 3 months or still slightly within, I couldn't tell you. She never asked O2 to enable roaming etc though, it was just automatically turned on.
I'm paying the £2.99 for ITS over the next few months too (although i get it free with my O2 retail Business contracts) as i'll be joining her soon - but I suggest you get a friend still in Britain to phone up O2 after you arrive to cancel ITS if you get abroad and find you can't roam - i.e. get a reliable bugger to phone them & cancel unless they hear from you within a day of landing.

Thanks for the help.
It seems very strange to me too, I've always just been able to use phones abroad and never had to phone up and activate it for use abroad for years. I just thought I'd phone up and check.
The cheeky b***ards said they could activate it if I paid £200!!

@matthewbowles
I seem to remember the same thing happening to me from CPW/Vodafone 5 years ago, with my first phone.
If I recall correctly, I gave them my credit card number as security against making sh*tloads of calls in the first three months, or something like that. If you're a first-time customer, they don't trust you to be responsible abroad, and they think you'll do a runner without paying your bill! Muppets indeed!

i had it instantly when i connected to O2 1 year ago but i think it depends on your credit rating, if it is low they wait till you pay 3 bills on time or something like that
