> P800 Proximity Connector app - very nice
Bookmark topic
I did a quick search and couldn't find anything about this on Esato so to let you all know....
There is a new free application available at my-symbian which seems very good. Basically it will auto-reconnect you P800 via bluetooth when it comes in range of the computer and establish the serial link. I got it working last night and it is pretty cool - it takes a bit of work to implement, but when it is setup it works very well. As far as I can tell, the app uses the an already incuded app installed with bluetooth software to log details of BT activity. You set up your computer to scan for devices every minute, and the small app monitors the log looking for your phone id to appear and when it does, it establishes the connection.
Check out
http://my-symbian.com/uiq/applications/applications.php?fldAuto=340&faq=17
and also the author's website which has details of how to use the software. I got it working fairly quickly, but I am still having problems with all my bluetooth connectivity - I ALWAYS lose my BT connection after transferring a small amount of data - if I leave it alone, it stays up indefinitely - does ANYONE know why?!?! It's driving me mad!

Very nice but limited use. It only works with a certain BT device (I can't remember the name).

I found it the other day & got it up and running. It works quite well. I saw that there was nothing on Esato about it but I didnt have the time to start a thread. I recommend it to anyone who likes to surf the net on their P800 via Bluetooth, coz if you go out of range all you have to do is wait a minute and it'll reconnect. Setup is a little messy and you have to have Widcomm BT Server Spy Lite and the P800 Proximity Connect runnning all the time (Take the advice from the website and use TrayIt! to keep them both in the tray).
I would prefer if the P800 could simply initiate the connection (Bemused can do it so it must be possible) but this is the next best thing).

It works with any bluetooth device that uses the Widcomm bluetooth stack. (the vast majority of devices either come with the widcomm stack, or can use it in place of the original drivers)

People with your programming skill and insight make me feel about as dumb as a flea.
Thanks again.

Is there anywhere where I can download the Spylite app? Widcomm's new site only has the FAQ section and not a proper download section.
THX!!
