> MIME-support in T610
Bookmark topic
(I tried searching the archives, but I didn't find anything, I hope it hasn't been reported already.)
I'm having trouble reading email formatted as "flowed" MIME-messages with the T610. After downloading a flowed mail, it only displays "(Unsupported character set.)". Ironically the flowed format was created to, among other things, to make it easier to read messages on devices of a non-standard width.
A message is flowed by appending format="flowed" to the Content-Type line, such as:
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" ; format="flowed"
Devices that doesn't support the flowed format are meant to simply ignore it (and read it the normal way, which will look just fine), but the T610 fails to do that. The format is documented in RFC2646 in case you're interested.
I find this most annoying since popular email clients such as Eudora use the flowed format, and it is a documented standard. It's not a huge problem for me personally though since I can parse and edit my email automatically (before they reach my POP3 account), but for a "typical" user it might pose a significant problem. (If you want to parse your mail, use e.g. procmail and get rid of the '; format="flowed"'.)
What are the chances of a firmware upgrade? (Zero, I know.)
Also, does anyone know why sending/reading mail ALWAYS blocks approximately 60 seconds at "Searching server" (translated)? (Using IP-addresses, so it's not DNS lookups.) I'm using GPRS with Telia in Sweden. (A FYI: mail1.telia.com accepts outgoing mail (SMTP) from a GPRS connection with Telia in Sweden.)

Same problem with my T68i. It's funny there must be so many different mime types... who is that idiot who make all these up?
My software was updated last week.
