I need to put a chunk of contacts into a group/folder. Are there other ways of doing this apart from entering each single contact and changing the folder?

Just a thought, haven't tried it. If you set up your contacts in folders in Outlook then synched back to the phone whould that do it?

No that wouldn't do it. Just puts them as unfiled. Outlook doesn't really care about P800 folders (unfortunately).
