im in maryland in the us, and two days ago i dropped my phone, causing the microphone to completely stop working. i can hear the other party perfectly and everything ele on the phone works fine, but the mic stopped working. i called up SE and sent in the phone as being under warranty because i didnt tell them i dropped it, just that it stopped working because the warranty doesnt cover physical damage. and also, i had another faceplate on that was a little chipped because i had dropped it a few months ago, but i changed it to original arctic blue so it looks almost brand new. my questiosn are:
1. there is a small, small chip, about half a centimeter in diameter on teh back of the phone antenna cover. will they assume i dropped the phoen and physical damage was brought upon the phone? i know this might be dumb, i jut dont knwo how picky their servic repair team is...
2. also, the little cover for the IR port on the right side of teh phone, (the little plastic piece) i lost so its not there on the phone. would they consider this physical damage as well?
3. if they consider the other two to be physical damage and concur that my phone is no longer under warranty because of damage, will they attempt to contact me and tell me tha tI have to pay them for the phone? or will they just ship it back and say sorry not under warranty?
thanks for your replies

I reckon 'cos it's under warranty, you'll get away with it - provided of course none of the guys read Esato!

I'm pickin you will have to explain the missing IRdA cover. Cause the only way you can get that out is if you have opened the phone.

shoot, has anyone had physical damage to their phone and sent it in under warranty? if they find physical damage, do they at least call you and tell you? or do they jut send the phone back and say its not under warranty? if i just make a big stink out of it, and say " i DEFINETLY had an IR port when it shipped" and kept saying i never opened teh phone, maybe theyd be nice anyways and take the 5 minutes it takes to fix it. Also, when i sent the package the lady on the phone told me to write a short description of the problem, and i made sure to add at the end "could you please clear the dust out of the screen of teh phone as its gotten very dusty since i bought the phone" to make them think that i never opened it.........
has anyone run into this situation before?
thx

In Asutralia they contact Sony Ericsson and then Sony Ericsson contacts you and notifies you about the situation. You usually have to ring the Service Centre cause the operators at SE don't have a clue what they are talkin about.
