The subject of the thread is NOT wrong; It is a thing between T610 (or T616) and T618...

I entered www.sonyericsson.com/fun and pressed games zone. I had T610 chosen but I changed it to T300 and then T618 to see whether there were other stuff. After chosing T618 I pressed other applications and found this Java Program: KQQ. In the description it says this: Are your buddies available for a chat? Download this on-line chat application and find out. Only working in China.

The things I don't understand are;
1- I know that they use a completeley different system than GSM; but doesn't it need socket support too?
2- If it does, why did put socket support in T618 but excluded form T610/616?

Any answers?

(It is too late so I can't think normally, please correct the words/grammar if there are any mistakes I've made... Thnx!)

Oops! sorry! I've told you that it was late and I couldn't think normally... So, it means that they have put socket support in T618 and excluded from T610/616...

I'm now totally confused. It is Nokia who do these kinds of stuff, not !!!

It's possible that the application uses a web-gateway. In that case, no socket support is needed. Also, that could explain their restriction about "Chinese people" only.

Regards!

There is an outfit called www.justyak.com that provides "chat" options with MSN, ICQ, Yahoo Messenger etc. on the T610 and a bunch of handsets also. They must also be using a web gateway. So there are alternatives to socket based J2ME apps.

Cheers Mike
