Hi all,
Sorry - but I feel the need to rant !
I've read on this forum a number of posts about the Vodafone Live icons that replace the normal SE icons - but I presumed you would only get these icons if you took the phone out on contract !!
I own a Sim Free T610. Since I've had the phone I've had problems with the BT Crackle problem (as a number of you have) so I phoned SE and they said a new Firmware was available and this 'may' help with the problem.
So anyway, today I went to my local shopping mall and thought I would go into CarPhoneWareHouse to see if they could upgrade my T610 firmware under warranty. To my surprise they said they could - and if I left it with them it would be done within an hour.
So I leave it with them. Go back in 1 hour and pick up the phone. ONLY TO FIND it now has all of the Vodafone Live icons all over it !
Apparently, although my phone is 'Sim Free' because I just happen to have a Vodafone Sim in the phone when I took it into the shop they had to use the 'Vodafone Firmware Upgrade'.
So now I have a phone which has been ruined by CarPhoneWareHouse. Why the f**k couldn't they have told me about this before they done the upgrade !
I complained in the store and they obviously just don't care. I even got them to put me through to the Head Office and had a rant at them - but they don't care.
What is more frustrating is I got them to put an Orange Sim in my phone while I was in the store and it STILL shows the Vodafone Live icons !!!
Is this normal ?? Surely, if I take a phone into CPWH and it isn't locked to a network they shouldn't have done this !
So now I have a phone which cost me 299 pounds - but I may as well have taken it out on contract with Vodafone and paid nothing - as my phone just looks like a normal 'contract' phone now !!
I am so pissed of I can't tell you.
Let this be a warning to anyone else who goes into CPWH to get a firmware upgrade.
Do any of you know how to get this crap off of my phone ? CPWH are telling me it cannot be removed once it has been added. These new Icons look like they were drawn by a 2 year old !
I think I'm going to cry !
Mark

You've been screwed !
I'd be SO hopping mad with CPW if they did that to me. If i were you i'd NEVER let this be, i'd bother them day out and day in to get a NEW phone. They should have informed you about the change.

You should try to reset your phone piti the 13sea trick. Normally you end up with (approximately, i do't know exactly) 5 images, 10ringtones, etc, but the Vodaphone things should have gone! ;-) Good luck,
Emeric

So can someone confirm if the 13 second trick really does remove the Vodafone crap ??
It's not just the icons they have replaced with Vodafone Live. But even some of the phones functions have now been replaced by Vodafone live shit.
CPW have totally screwed me over this. They even said 'The Vodafone Live icons don't look that bad !'.
ARHHHH

Not meaning to add insult to injury, have they actually updated the firmware? Is it R1L or still R1A? If I were u I would not be satisfied until a replacement is provided

It is now R1L. But to be honest I wish I hadn't bothered because of what they have done.
And to answer everyones questions about the static on Bluetooth - I'm afraid I still have it even with this version of Firmware ! Although I won't be able to properly test this until tomorrow when I can have a proper conversation with someone on the phone.
They have also changed the font of the clock when the phone goes into powersave mode (god knows why they spent time changing the font of the clock !)

It does NOT remove the BT headset problem,
crackle is partially gone, but getting the phone to transfer calls to BT headset still is a big problem!!!
I dont understand why SE dont put more effort into solving this problem, considering the T610 taking over for T68 (which have alot of BT headset users) which means alot of user want to be able to use their BT headsets.
