On the T610/16, you can simply turn your GPRS radio off by going into data accounts -> preferred networks -> GSM only. Even if you have a GPRS account (e.g. T-Zones), it will turn the GRPS radio on automatically. Same is true for the email client, when the GPRS radio is needed, it is enabled. The only downside is that when you want to WAP, you just have to wait a couple extra seconds for authentication. I can't think of a reason to keep the GPRS radio on.

This was addresses a while ago for older types as the T39. Since i already have great standby times anyway, I can't possibly think it could have a real effect, and most of all, you cant really test it. Plus, the GPRS bar looks cool

I tested it: with t39 the same 8-9 days with the tiny battery. With the large battery it was about 3 weeks. This message was posted from a T39
