this is the third time it happened !!!!! i cant take it anymore!!! i thought R2F was supposed to solve all the shutdown and memory issues (obviously it hasnt).

now the only reason im not bitching even more is that the P800 is a new "gadget" which obviously has its fair share of problems. but if the P800 2 (as my service center called it and confirmed touch screen but wait for SE to confirm first, as of now its just a rumor) crashes on me even once it will probably be the last time i buy a SE! (i converted 2 years ago)

i know exactly what happened though....

i was recording a conversation and my memory was 2.3-2.4mb after the conversation i only had 0.3mb. after that it was working slowly and once i shut it off it didnt work again!( i knew it would do that based of my previous experience with the P800 crashing :| ) i thought the slop file in R2F took care of not overloading memory?

so it has nothing to do with overcharging my battery (people who read my older threads knew that i said both times my P800 crashed i "overcharged" it)

SE make amazing phones! too bad thier best one is the buggiest :| but it is to be expected i guess from a feature rich phone.

i first had R1B= doesnt turn om
then R1D= doesnt turn on and SE gave me a brand new P800 because ny first P800 was "broken"
now R2F= doesnt turn on

now the service center say it has to do with my memory stick and asked for it with my P800. i hope they dont delete my duo as i have 150+ polys and all other kinds of apps.

oh and somehow my "new" P800 is not under warrenty and it came directly from SE :| :| :| :| :| and i have to pay for the upgrade!!!!!!

SE MAKE A NEW FIRMWARE AND THAT WILL NOT CORRUPT THE OS OF THE P800!!

or you can make me a tester for the 810 or P800 "2" as i already am for the P800 (unofficially ). and give them to me for free

Crashes can happen. What software do you have installed?

I know exactly what you mean, i am away on holiday at the moment and it has crashed at least 6 times! (Mainly when i am texting). I am getting so pissed off with it, I was thinknig about throwing it away and getting a more stable phone like the t610, however when this phone does not crash, I honestly think it is amazing.

I thought that i had found the problem, i installed Java MSN, just before i went away, before i went on holiday that phone only crashed a few times since i upgraded the phone's software.

But after i uninstalled it yesterday, the phone has crashed twice more!

Is java MSN a know program to cause the phone to crash?

Gabster, i know this discussion is about R2F but i have had the same crashing problems when composing an SMS on R2D. it always seems to happen just as i am getting to the end of the sms i am writing then TOD. it hapened twice over the weekend. strange. would be interesting to find out when people actually have a system crash, is it when they are writing sms'es or running certian applications. i might start a post to see what applications people are running when it crashes.

guys it had not just crashed it wont start!!!!!!!!!!!!! i thought i made that clear. if you wanna talk about crashing it crashed a million times (sometimes i write an SMS and it crashes :|) THE PHONE DOES NOT TURN ON!!!!!!!!!

i turn it on and nothing happens. if it just crashes i would not be posting about it because almost all devices crash from time to time!

I just upgraded the phone to R2F it seems what happened with your phone is this (it happened to my phone):

I submitted my phone to SE and they told me to come back in an hour or so, when i came to pick it up the guy who took it is not the one who removed it from the upgrade cable.
He tried to to turn on the phone but with no luck (even with the charger connected), a few minutes later the guy in charge of upgrading phones came and he said that the upgrade was not complete and the phone must be put back on the computer for repeating the process, so i came back an hour later and the phone is working fine.
So i suggest you get it back to SE and let them upgrade it again and try the phone when you receive it BEFORE YOU LEAVE, the battery might be dead so use a charger, wait a few minutes for the phone to pick a charge then turn on.

@naar

funny you say all this coz exactly the same thing happened to me at the weekend. although my phone was still running on the old firmware, this is wot happened. i downloaded a file via GPRS which was about 500kb. my phone memory at the time was about 1.9mb. the phone just died and wouldnt turn on at all (the phone needs at least 2.00mb to run the apps properly). i phoned orange and they tried to blag it saying it was a network problem. it blatently wasnt as it doesnt even search for the network until you input the PIN number. the screen just froze at the start-up screen. anyhow, orange told me i have to ring back the next day if the problem was still the same. obviously it was. but the next day i just left the phone on at the start up screen and after a while it came up with this msg :- internal file system is corrupt, you need to re-format the internal drive... so i clicked 'ok' and it formatted the disk and it turned on! although, however, all of my contacts etc had been deleted. i got a brand new handset yesterday with the new R2F firmware installed, so i am again a happy customer!

@ryanmachin

You say the phone needs ca. 2MB memory free - is this internal memory, or does can this include the DUO stick too?

I prayed and prayed to get a P800 - got one; now, after day three, I had my first Triangle of Death! Reading this thread doesn't fill me with enthusiasm either....

(I'm on R2D)

@ -spc-

yes that is just the internal/phone memory. not the DUO.

and hey, dont worry about the 'triangle of death'. get the firmware upgraded and it'll be sweet. plus i think we can all accept that this sort of thing is gonna happen, coz this is no ordinary phone. lets face it.
