Been trying to read my NTLworld email via GRPS and the connection just times. Tried the GMS WAP too but same thing. Works fine when in the cradle and using the pc connection!
Does O2 block connections to other pop3 servers or do i just have some GPRS/GMS WAP setting wrong? Anyone on O2 Contract care to double check their settings with me plz.
thank you!

you just have the wrong settings. you will need to use the GSM connection and I would hazard a guess that you are using URLS (e.g. mail.btinternet.com) rather than IP addresses (e.g. 194.073.073.090).

Try using IP addresses and you should find that it works.

Phil.

the IP addys are:

for pop.ntlworld.com - 62.253.162.56
for smtp.ntlworld.com - 62.253.162.40

however u may find that u can recieve but not send, as this is the problem i've always had with NTL thru my fone

@Eleventy7, @philbo

DNS address works the same as IP address for me. I use Voda/VodaGPRS to access my ntlworld account:

POP3 - pop.ntlworld.com
SMTP - smtp.vizzavi.net (or .co.uk); i.e. you need the O2 smtp address (probably smtp.o2.co.uk)

GPRS data account APN - 'internet', USER - 'web', password - 'web'
O2 have to activate IP (internet) APN for GPRS as well as data (wap) APN or else email won't work.

Cheers,

Steven.
