my g/f has jus gone to corfu(an island off greese(SP?)) and im not gonna phoen her cos it costs her mone aswell as me. so i was wondering if it woudl cost her to recive a SMS message off me. and my other question is woud a semens A50(its dual band) work in corfu. its on O2-UK and on the site it ull only show me the coverage for greese and not the islands.

i have looked for the ans to both questions on www.o2.co.uk and found no answers.

Yes, it will cost her if you send her an SMS. You get to pay for the fee normally, and she gets to pay whatever the foreign operators chooses to charge. Nic of them, isn't it?
And yes, a dual band phone should definitely work on Corfu. Tri Band is needed for GSM 1900 networks in the US and parts of Asia.

so if it costs her 50p to send me a sms from corfu does that mean it costs her 40p to recive 1 off me as i pay 10p.

F*ck no!

I worked in Spain 4 years ago (OK, 4 years ago, but the principle still exists) and I paid about £1 per SMS sent/received! (You'll just pay the normal fee for sending, while your missus will pay whatever the operator wants to charge!)

I had big gripes with Voda and CPW at the time since they wouldn't tell me what the Spanish telecoms co.s were likely to charge me.
