I'm a bit paranoid, I know, but I bealive that I am onto something here......

IF the T68i and the T68i are completely identical,

WHY are SE holding back the upgrade when the T68I already have "hit the shops"?

If you can read Scandinavian (hehe) check out this link http://www.mobil.se/nyheter/visa.asp?id=4870&sid=1. Per Alksten, produkt manager at SE, says that they have to hold back the upgrade BECAUSE they need to test it properly before they make it available.

WHY do they have to test the "new" software exstensively with the "old" T68m, when it's supposed to be identical with T68i.

This does not make sense..

Ok, ok, I read the article too fast. They had to test the MMS software before they could make it available and did not implement it in the T68m because of this. But still does not explain why people have to wait a month to get the upgrade....

It doesnt make sense
But as they told, the new SW is IMEI locked at the moment.
But they never said anthing about testing it on T68m.

speaking of conspirathy theories...how about this:
Perhaps one of the reasons they are shipping out so small ammounts of
T68i right now is cause they are unsure how the new software works
and don't wan't to have to upgrade _alot_ of phones.
Are they waiting for reports to come back how well T68i performs
before they start shipping out bigger ammounts of them
and doing the final upgrade on T68m's

It can simply just be for marketing purposes! A small quantity, a lot of new buyers and impatient T68m users who wants the upgrade... Just figure out the rest. This post was posted from a T68

the worst thing about it is we can't do anything about it.

we just have to wait and wait and wait . . . . . . and we are all getting pretty tired of waiting!!!

waiting sucks and to top it all off we are not even sure what we are waiting for or what exactly we'll get!!!

Hmmm, according to Nordialog, their supplyer of the major bulk of T68i will be available mid-easter or when easter is over, in about a week then....

BUT I read somewhere that Nokia used this "tactic" when releasing the 8210. Only dropped a few phones to stirr up the market. It works, people are going crazy on this board, the i is "talk of the town" right now. But it's a very VERY thin line... and i think has crossed this line...

If its a marketing strategy I wonder if its nessessary
I belive the market for T68 is so big they would
benifit of shipping out lots of them, they are selling good.
That would mean they would hit more top10 lists of
polular phones and more ppl would buy them.
(It's easier to trust and buy something you see alot of
other ppl buy).
I think it was on geab T68 didn't even make it to top10
atfirst of the reason that they couldn't sell more of them
as soon they got em in stock they got sold but since they
got so small quantaties it didnt even make it to top10.
I'm doubtful its a good strategy, and while they are holding
off the phone other companies get a chanse to release
their latest models and steal market from
nah... think it's time for them to start shipping out the phone
in larger numbers now if they can and grab a bigger chunk
of the market if ppl are happy with T68 the chanse are
good their next brand will be also.

How about this theory... whats the easiest to do on a computer... make a new fresh installation of your OS or making a upgrade... ?

think like this, you will have to do a upgrade from Windows to Linux in one upgrade patch, diffrent filesystems and so on...

SE has obviously done something right when waiting to release the upgrade. If you read this forum you find a lot of people that couldn't wait, and they have bought the t68i(and they already have a t68m). Those who have bought both of the phones are actually the reason for SE not to release the upgrade at the same time as the t68i. I have also been thinking about replacing my t68m, but I will not let SE win with their strategy. I'm just going to wait and be a dissatisfied customer instead. They will probably loose me later as a customer, if other suppliers has equal products.

ervil, I totally agree with you
sonyericsson is trying to make us feel our t68m not as good as the t68i, make us wanna buy a new one.
Im gonna wait until be a dissatisfied customer. if so, I would kick out SE cell fone from my list in my whole life and buy some others
