> T610 email settings on SmartGPRS(PH)?
Bookmark topic
Has any one of you successfully configured the email feature on the T610 via SmartGPRS to connect with a third party pop server (e.g. hotpop.com)?
I can surf via WAP using SmartGPRS, I'm sure I have the proper settings but all I get is
... Finding Server
... Connecting
... Finding Server (again!)
Then ... Server not found
Am I missing something here? Addict mobile peeps, hope you can help?

I had the same problem when trying to set up my email account to connect to my work server. I kept on getting server not found also. Try using the pop and smtp server IP address rather than there dns name. This seemed to work for me.
Hope this Helps.

Hey guys guess what? I after some research (thanks to esato!), I was able to make it work! Apparently, I was using the wrong WAP profile--SmartGPRS. It should be the "Internet" profile! Here's how I did it:
1. Get the correct settings via OTA by sending "get internet ET610" to 211. Smart/211 will automatically send you a message/setting--make sure you save it.
2. Go to the settings for your email account and make sure to select the "Internet" profile.
3. Set all the POP/incoming settings just as you would on Outlook/OE. I was able to successfully connect to our office POP server, and a the free pop hotpop service!
4. The SMTP server - here's the trick - since Smart, PLDT/DSL and Infocom are one and the same companies (they share the same DNS servers, for one thing) then it should also work for the same SMTP server - smtp.info.com.ph
Fire away! I just love taking snapshots and sending them right off as an attachment to my sister abroad!
I think it would also speed things up a little bit if you put in the static IPs instead of the domain names so your phone can skip the domain name resolution part. I tried it and it probably saves just about 1 sec (!) when sending or receiving. Btw, the IP address of smtp.info.com.ph is 202.57.96.78.
Guys, let me know if this helps, or any other tips on how to improve this!
Now if only someone can figure out how to remove these Vodaphone crap on my T610!!! (Already been to Smartnet, R1L upgrade didn't get rid of it)

It's supposed to. The email systems between T610 and T68i are very similar, if not the same.
