B*st*rd thing.

Bought two bits of software off my-symbian.com today; downloaded them to the PC, stuck the phone in the cradle - and nothing, a big fat zero! Opening the desktop P800 icon resulted in 'P800 not connected'.

Unplugged/plugged the USB lead into the PC. Switched USB ports. Reinstalled the P800 sync software. All to no avail, nothing!

The charger works fine. And if I unplug the charger, the little logo on the front of the syncstation lights up when I stick the phone in the cradle.

Without the phone in the cradle, and rebooting my machine, the Phone Connection Link icon in the Win XP tasktray is animated like it's searching. If I stick the phone in the cradle, nada! It's not recognized

Please help! Damn hardware, it's let me down again!!

I soooo wanna love my P800, but make it so difficult!

Anyone else had this problem at all?

Steven.

EDIT: It keeps saying that this port may be in use by another application whenever I try to update the Phone Connection Link....

Thanks for that - trying it now;

A few minutes a go I did remove the USB drivers and reinstall the PC suite, but still no joy. But this time, I'm doing as you suggest; uninstall PC suite (1.4.0), uninstall USB drivers, reboot and allow USB driver detection, install PC suite 1.5.1.

Will keep you posted (tomorrow)!

Had this problem myself, I tried everything I could think of (as well as everything that board members could think of), I sent the damn thing back to Sony and when I got my new one (they didnt tell me what was wrong with the old one) it has worked perfectly every time

I had a situation like this here at work. We just had our machines upgraded and suddenly I couldn't get my phone and PC to talk to each other.

Couldn't work it out!! Had the same software as at home and on the old machine. Checked everything, but it seemed like the problem was with the USB port itself not with the software or the phone. Solution... change the PC and reload the PC suit software. Have not looked back since as all works as it should do now.

So... maybe there is something wrong with the USB port.

Before reloading the software, I uninstalled, then reinstalled the USB drivers - a must!
