i have had my T68i for 2-3 months and have had problems with it first i had the problem when when i switched it on the screen woudl light up but stay black. so i take it to Se service centre and they refuse to honour the garentee cos its on orange and has been unlocked. so i takt it to the guy i buy it off and he puts me in a new screen. now 1 month on i have a new problem altho its been an ongoing prob for abotu 2 weeks. basicly the sim reader int eh phone wont read the sim propery it will read it to turn on but if i wanna send an sms or use the phoen for anything other then a pda i have to turn it on and off and then it ses insert sim so i have to take the sim out and lick it put it back in and then try again. thus damaging my sim i now have a slicht hole in the gold plate on my sim from doing this every day for the last 2 weeks and it has gradually got worse.
so now im afraid he wont honour the garentee or SE wont honur it and im gonna be stuck with a duff phone and having to go back to my 5110 till january when i can go contract when im 18. and get a T610

ok, I'm really curious about this.
are you using a very old sim card?
It could be one of the old 5v sim cards that is causing this problem.
New sims are 3v.
whats the hardware date on the back of the phone, on the imei sticker should be 02wxx
lastly what firmware are you running?
from operator screen, tap joystick right, press star, tap stick left, tap stick left, press star, tap left, press star.

sim the sim is about 6 months old(mabe less) but it works with my 7 yr old voda sim betta than it works with my new sim.
i took it to the wanker today and he sed its water damaged now the only water it has come into contact with is the water in the air. i mean standard air (not bathroom air) and thats not particulaly humid. then theres the uber hot/dry air at work i work in a kitchen. and the aircon/de humidyfier is on all the time and it is abotu 20C-+ and abotu >30% humid.
its 03W05 so garentee till 04W5 altho 100% void now. as he is nto Se qualifyed and has had the phone in pieces to replace the screen. and it now has 2 dimples where the screws have been overdone.
i also took it to gitten comms ont he persure rd and they sed it is water damaged(using the TV and bucket of water analagy) but sed the water damage has been there for a while now as its kinda spreading. hell my sim card is green(god knwos why) so he shoudl have spotted it when he replaced the screen.
i asked for a refund or a replacement product (i think i am entitled to) and he sed no i willl buy it back off you for £60 and sell it on for £130 after using an ultrasound bath on it. therefore im loosing out on £70 thats just under 18 hours of hard work. for me atleast.
oh and hes so sure no 1 will fix it especally SE (for free anyways)
Quote: if you send it off to SE and they dont send it back saying beonde econimical repair or words to that effect i will repair the phoen for free and give you a free phone
i am in the proccess of writeing to trading standards as i feel i have been ripped off but mum doesnt think i have much of a case as water damage isnt covered by garentee therfore his word against mine. and he as the retailer has the upper hand.
and finnally can someone answer me this. what woudl i expect to get if i put it up on Ebay for the phone i would have to say it is damaged but repairable. woudl i manage to make my £130 back or close to. im not to bothered abotu losing say £30-£40 on it but loosing £70 if i was to sell it back to him. is it feasable.

@BOSSHOGG i dotn see how it has been water damaged its not like i have thrown it in water hell i went sailing with my old 3310 in my pocket i forgot to take it out and that still worked after. yes it died 12 months down the line but i still had it for longer than that. water damage takes a while to break the phone. he is trying to fob me off.

mine also did that, whereby it turns on but only stays balck, i waited 5 minutes then put the batery back in and it worked fine, i thought that maybe it was a precaution to stop the phone over heating etc becuase i had been using it a lot and it suddenly shut off>?

He's giving you 70 quid for a phone that you unlocked thereby voiding the warranty, the whole kitchen thing doesn't sound to healthy either. Take the money while you can, i can't understand why He's giving you so much.
