When you hold down "1" it should dial 123 (on Orange UK at least) but it's dialling the default Orange voicemail number, and it asks me to enter my full number.

How can I change this to 123?

thats what I meant to say, there is no option to change it, the Orange sim removes the option to change your voicemail number.

if the phone isn't locked to a network provider you can try this....

put in a simcard from another provider in the phone, go to the above settings (and hope it shows ), then change it to the number you want... then change back to your ordinary simcard... power on the phone and kepp your fingers crossed

exodus is right, Orange prevent you from setting it yourself, and for some unknown reason, they have set it to a generic answerphone number rather than something useful.

Shouldn't work. The mailbox number is held by the sim card, not the phone and is collected each time you power on.
