I am not sure where to post this, but I hope someone can help me to find out why I can't send SMS from my T610 in Norway to a Verizon in US. I have NetCom, doesn't they support this? I thought since it was triband, I could SMS anywhere. Or...? Any suggestions would be highly appreciated:-)

Verizon is NOT a GSM provider. Most non-GSM providers within the US do not extend or recive SMSs from GSM providers in the States or overseas (Sprint supposedly dose, but it never worked for me). So far, you can send SMSs to T-Mobile, not sure about Cingular and AT&T.

BTW, your having a tri-band phone has nothing to with this. You can send messages with a single band phone, as long as it works on your network (the networks will take care of the rest).

Thanks for your reply:-) I bought this phone so I could use it both in US and Norway, send messages from both places, that's why I was thinking that triband was a good idea. I am a total newbie when it comes to this, I have had the phone in just a short time, so sorry if I ask dumb questions. Can my husband change his Verizon to T-Mobile and then it will work? (He has a Motorola v60i) Will he be able to send sms back to me too? And one more thing, when I go to US, I can choose network. Does that mean that if I choose T-mobile instead of verizon, I can send sms home? But if I chose Verizon, I can't? He can send sms to other Verizon phones, but I have to go throught vtext.com.

if you are roaming from Norway you will be using a GSM network and Verizon is CDMA. They are not compatible technologies. If you both have GSM phones then you should be able to send SMS back and forth between your phones. If you are on different networks, i.e. T-Mobile US and one of the operators in Norway, you just need to make sure you have a roaming agreement between them to be able to send SMS. If you are both on T-Mobile then it should work fine whether you are both in US, Norway or one in each country. For use in the US, you just need to make sure you have coverage on T-Mobile in the areas you will be in, because if you can't get a signal, it won't matter if you are on compatible networks.
