> once and for all, propoer charging habits, how?

Before I buy my T610 I dont want to screw up the battery so I want to know the answer to the following:
1. Re: initial charge, does it have to be INITIAL? OR can I have it plugged in the store for a few minutes just to check if its running, then do the "initial" charge at home
2. If the phone is authentically new, will the battery have some power in it or will that mean it has been use?
3. lithium polymer? no memory effect? some say if you drain it before charging you lose memory effect. what is the score?

The battery is partly charged but you shouldn't use the phone untill you charge it completely. The first time you charge, simply charge untill it stops charging. No point in having it in the charger longer then that since the charging circuits will be automatically cut off anyway.
As masseur said, the Li-Po batteries have no memory effect so there is no need to discharge the battery completely before you charge it again. However since the ammount of charges before the battery starts loosing performance is limited (500-1000 times), it might be a bad idea to stick it in the charger more then neccessary.

Carlsb3rg: No negative effects, but you might want to minimize the number of charges to prolong battery life as much as possible. But it's really just a matter of convenience

i actually read that it hurts your lithium batteries if you let them die. you should just charge it before it gets below 25% and your battery will stay good.
