Hi, I have a T610 in Canada with Fido.ca.

I have GPRS working fine, and I can browse the web with no troubles. Only prblm is I want to use pop email. I cant seem to find a server that works. I have signed up to every pop server under the sun, and eveytime i go to check mail, it says connecting, the globe icon shows, then instantly says server not found.

I have put in all the settings correctly for every different one, ive followed the instructions from this site.

Anyone know why this is? Thanks.

The first problem many people have is trying to do email (using the email applet in messages) with the WAP gprs settings. In general you need two data accounts set up in your phone for GPRS access , one for WAP and one for general internet access.

The 'server not found' message usually comes when you are attempting to access a POP3 or SMTP server using the WAP data account.

Your provider might be limitgng your access. I had the same problem: I only had WAP GPRS activated and I was unable to retrieve my pop3 mail. Requesting the activation of internet access via GPRS will solve this. Might also cost you more. This message was posted from a WAP device

well my connection definatley lets me check pop3 mail, as it says so on they're website. Im sure I have all the settings for GPRS in correctly on my phone, I have had them sent from my network and off the SE website. I dont have any problems else where.

Maybe I should ask my network?

I have exactly the same problem regarding T-mobile, a T610 and e-mail, but can connect to the web using GPRS. What was the problem?

I had the same probs. I solved it by creating a new dataaccount with wap replaced by internet. That's how it worked for me on orange. Good luck This message was posted from a T610

@ipegot
That's pretty much it - for examples of UK service providers, see:
http://www.filesaveas.com/gprs.html (I'm losing count of how many threads I've posted this link in...)

@all
From this link, you get the picture; as masseur says, you need two GPRS data accounts, identical, but with differing APN / password / usernames - the APN bit being key.

ALSO - your provider must *activate* both APNs on your account. (There are many reports in these threads of the service provider staff not actually realising this is what they need to do, or how to do it - if they 're unsure, be assertive!)

Steven.

Some service providers use only a single GPRS data account for WAP and Internet acccess.
