> Cingular T616's & Warranty
Bookmark topic
I noticed a bunch of the unlocked Cingular T616's on Ebay. If I were to purchase one of these, is there any warranty on it? If so, who provides it? SE or Cingular? Do I need the original receipt or other documentation for the warranty?

People on AT&T's forum have been purchasing T616's from Cingular. Cingular sells them unlocked.

Yes, I realize this - however as I hear, Cingular has stopped selling the unlocked versions. In any event, Cing. doesn't have them in my area, so I must turn elsewhere. My question though, is, who handles the warranty in case something goes wrong? Does Cingular honor it even though it is not in my service area and I am not a Cingular customer, or do I deal directly with SE?

If you hook it up with Cingular, it will not be under any warranty thru Cingular. SE might, but would have to be mailed to them. There are certain things that Cingular reps will notice, such as GPRS settings and backgrounds, as well as no record of the imei, that will let them know that did not come from Cingular's inventory.

If you purchased a Cingular phone that is unlocked and activated it with, say, T-Mobile or AT&T Wireless, you would have to deal with SE for warranty and repair issues...

RichLok: Thanks, that's what I was looking for. I wanted to make sure there was some sort of warranty, even if I deal with SE directly.

look in the last few pages of the manual. Mine says that SE warrantees the phone.
