When I sync my Outlook Contacts with my P800 Contacts, the mobile phone number always gets transferred from the Outlook "Mobile" field to the P800 "Mobile (w)" field. I don't know anyone with a 'work' mobile - I want to transfer the Outlook field to the P800 "Mobile (h)" field. Does anyone know if this is possible?!

Many thanks,
Haydn

Well i have had a similar problem. When I sync the majority of numbers dont get synced on2 Outlook. I have tried the new PC Suite and stil the same. I dont know why.

The obvious is that u shouldnt use 2 numbers for the same category, its a bug Id say on that the P800 lets u do it - ie. letting u use 01234 as Mobile (W) and 9876 for Mobile (W) again, they should have known Outlook would only sync one of the numbers in2 its contacts.

Also alot of the numbers dont actually save, I dont know whether this is coz im using a trial cracked version of Outlook XP as this version doesnt let me update it, or whether its a bug.

No one on My-Symbian forums bothered to comment on my problem when I put in a post, nice of them to help with real issues that are affecting ppl rather than a**holes that want a bloody video app...I mean for gods sake some of the ppl on the forums have no brains...U BOUGHT A PHONE! NOT A VIDEO CAMERA! THERE WAS NO INDICATION THAT THE P800 WAS GOING TO B ABLE 2 RECORD VIDEO. SO QUIT WHINING ALREADY! SO WHAT IF THE 3650 HAS IT? GO AND BUY THAT!

The video app post is only one of such stupid and meaningless of subjects that are on Esato mainly and to a lesser extent, my-symbian. Its amazing how many posts they seem to recieve.

Some people here need to know there is more to life than recording crap video that u cant send 2 each other coz the GPRS charges would usually be extortionate! GO AND GET 3!

Sometimes browsing thru the topics on here, Im left to wonder how many intelligent people use Esato...AND YES I know I have gone off topic AND YES I AM P*SSED off lol!

BTW Im sure alot of u really wanted 2 say something similar about some of the silly posts on here but were afraid or couldnt be bothered 2 say so, I dont give a damn 2 b honest. lol

Guess Il just wait to be flamed now....how juvenile

I guess you all have to make a request to SE for that and wait for it (like that will happen I'm sure SE tried their best to make their sync software as generic as possible to make it work with a whole lot of PIMs out there but unfortunately during the process, they also have to give up some stuffs. But I'm sure if SE will allot part of their resources, something like that is feasible.

They can siply let users to choose what field on the phone to map what field on the Outlook. and the syc just keeps alist of this map. but they never bother.

Actually I dont think they can easily. The transfer process appears uses vcards as an intermediary and the processing of the vcard is done by Microsoft in Outlook. The basic problem is that MS have only provided one Mobile No Field in outlooks schema. In theory it ought to be possible to modify Outlooks schema but not sure how.

I'm not sure how other software achieves this but I know that the Pocket PC Active Sync software allows you to specifically map the fields used on the pocket pc to the fields saved within outlook. In fact, comparitively, it allows you quite a large amount of flexibility and control even with custom fields (as far as I remember). I guess if the actual methods differ then it might be a limitation difficult to overcome (and as if SE are going to change their entire methods just for a bit more control over your contacts) but it would be interesting to discover whether it is in fact simply a software limitation or the actual device is limited in the way it communicates.

About syncing with Outlook I'm sure the reason you can not sync is related with service packs (Windows Update) and configurations.
Maybe you can find some clues in this recent thread:
