I can't belive it, I have had my T68 for about 1 month now and everybody is complaining about the voice quality. The thing that pisses me off the most was when I was out drinking beer this weekend and I called a friend and he could not hear me just a lot of noice.

I called him several time with the same result ... at last I had to borrow another friends nokia 5110 ... and guess what? I could talk to my friend, even if it was a lot of background noice.
(we have the same operator here in sweden: comviq)

This was really annoying ... all my friends laught at me ... 600$ phone that you can't use.

Is this true? is the voice quality this bad or is it my phone?

I really like this phone, color backround etc. BUT I MAINLY WANT A PHONE I CAN USE.

Just an advice:
...upgrade your software to the latest and you won't have any problem!

You still have SMS

If I were you I would go to SE customer support. Or actually, you could try and call them, eh eh
That would be sad if they forgot a phone is still meant to carry voice

I have had a similar problem with my t39; people did not hear me. It was fixed temporarily by using the handsfree, but I got it reparied for free at the service center. The microphone contact was not properly soldered to the main board according to the papers that came in return with my phone.

Never had any problems with the microphone since I bought it and this was from november... so try an Upgrade and if it doesn't work.... then it's a hardware failure... go and fix it at a sonyericsson SC.

This is a common thing that people had experience with.
Bring your phone to the service centre and tell them to fix your mic. Tell them to upgrade "mic update" from the EMMAII server. Upgrading to the latest firmware R2B013 will not improve that much.
So, just tell them you want to get a mic update from EMMAII server.
