hello all, my orange contract runs out next month and was wondering what are the procedures for cancelling a contract for orange, do u have to give a months notice or can you just ring up on the day.
Also I plan to go on orange payg, i hear you can ask them to change your contract sim to a payg sim so that you can keep the same number is that correct?
I also getting the t610 payg from cyren hopefully at £145 if i am reading these forums correctly, can i register the t610 mobile to my payg sim(contract>payg one) or not as i hear that before sending you the payg phone they register the phone for u using the supplied sim.

You need to give the bloodsucking b******s 1 months written notice. The easiest way is via Fax but call them to tell them what you are doing, (0800 80 10 80 or 150) make sure they make a note on the account before you fax them. Keep hold of your fax as evidence coz they will try and drag aver last penny out of you. I day, a week or month. (They say that they did not recieve the fax. Trust me on this)
They offered me a free PAYG SIM and i could keep or change my number. £1 credit too.

Every UK network requires that you give them 1 months (written) notice to end the contract - Orange aren't unique in this respect. You can give this notice after 11 months though so your contract still only needs to be 12 months maximum if you time it right. Best to phone them up to get them to start the wheels in motion and then send a letter by recorded delivery or a fax.
But yes - when you say you want to cancel your contract they will be able to send you a PAYG SIM which will have your existing number on it. If you buy a PAYG T610 you should be able to simply drop the PAYG SIM with your old number straight into the phone - it may be worth phoning up OCS to get them to re-register the SIM with the new phone though. This is the sort of thing that may require a couple of calls to OCS to get a cooperative tubby! Phone 0800 801080 (option 3, 3, 1 for PAYG) from a landline to avoid having to pay for the OCS call(s) on JT though.

They're all the same. I get my phones of the net. So much cheaper. Have saved my self £100's. Don't have to deal with salemen (though i was one myself for the link) flogging me insurance and i get exactly what i want at half the price. Shame i can't buy cheaper tariffs too.

oooh and yes one months written notice is just fine! dont need to write tho just call 150 (orange phone) or 07973100150 (landline) and away you go,
all this talk of money grabbin tut tut tut at least we dont whack £25 on ya bill if ya dont pay it on time!! that money grabbin ya listening singlepoint?? hope so!
