On the P8 application list one option is to 'Kill', what does that mean please ? I have never dared to try ! Ty u.

Usually means "force close". Some programs doesn't want to be shut down. Thus you got "kill".

So u use it if you get a troublesom program then ? I assume you don't use it to shut down main or stuff that doesn't close if you try ?

yeah i would like to add a little clarification question. I use file man in tracker. i usually close applications i am not using leaving only the system ones like the phone. why would i need or want to kill an app? is it if i cannot get it to close like a good little application?

Most apps uses threads which connects it to main system files. And sometimes they don't release the threads. So you need to "kill" them. Much like in a *nix based system. (*nix meaning unix, linux, bsd etc)

I only seem to use it when i've finished using apps that run in the background, like Screen Capture and Remote P800.

On a similar theme,
Compact Memory / Free Memory,
why does the fone hang on to this memory after the apps have been closed?

It actually annoys me intensely that many apps don't have an 'exit' or 'quit' command in their 'File' menu - some do, but most don't. Thank heavens for SMan (indispensable IMO).
