I did the 13 second trick today. It didn't work real well. Sure, all the predefined items were gone... but the memory wasn't changed at all. It can't wipe em, cause I did anotherfull reset and it put them back.
Bit of luck SE will get rid of the stupid pre defined items!

With the T300 now having been superceded for a month or two by the T310 I doubt SE will exert any effort on the T300 and I firmly believe R1G will be the final firmware for that model.

The 12 second trick CAN make you more memory. Lots of ppl say its impossible because if you reset the phone again all the predefined items are back, therefore they were never really gone. Another user explained this but ill try again.
There is a seperate memory chip, (most likly ROM) and all the phone software and predefined items are in there. When the phone is first "booted up" (in shop probably) the phone loades everything from the ROM chip into the phones main memory. This main memory can be added to etc, (not ROM).
When you do a master reset, the main funstions of the phone must load first from the ROM chip and then predefined items.. (probably in this order as the predefined items are subject to change as vodafone will want there own logos added, so the functions that do not change are at the beginning.) ...If you pull out the batters after 13 seconds, then the predefined items will not have been loaded, thus leaving more of the phones main memory for the user.
Parts of this explaination could be wrong, but thats the main idea of how it works.

The 13 sec trick does not work - its a complete misunderstanding.
The main memory of approx 1077kb is divided into to separate memoryspaces - one memoryspace for the user of approx 581kb and one for the system and predefined objects of 496kb. If you do a master reset you will clear the user memoryspace and free up that 581kb and it will load the system and predefined objects into systemmemory. If you do the 13sec trick - yes it will then not load the predefined objects into memory - but its the systemdefined memory that it will not get loaded into - and the user does not have acces to the systemmemory. You will still only have around 570-600kb free usermemory. The total memory reported will then only be around 800kb instead of 1050kb - because it did not load everything into the systemmemory.
Try it out - first do a normal masterreset - goto memorystatus and calculate the total memory by adding the memory reported of each folder to each other and youl get around 1050 kb. Then do the 13sec trick - and do the same - now you only have around 800-850kb total memory - and the free memory will be the same.
The only thing you might gain - is if a phonecompany has added something besides the normal predefined objects, then these are stored in the usermemory and will get deleted freeing up some memory for the user. But this you do not need to do the 13sec trick for - all you need to do is a normal masterreset.
The numbers may vary depended on which country you are in - and therefore which predefined objects SE delivers in the phone.

Yep. When i did it on mines, i went to pictures. All predefined pics were blank and i had extra space, but if i highlighted the blank pic it loaded up and reclaimed It's space.
