Could the little red LED on the joystick be used to indicate that the phone is switched on when it goes into standby? It would only need to pulse once every 10 seconds or so. This feature could then be enhanced to show that a new or unread message is present by having a faster pulse rate when it standby.

I find I am always having to take my phone out of standby to see whether it is switched on and if an SMS or missed call is present.

Is this a good idea or asking the impossible?

I guess if practical it could be built into a firmware upgarde. Would anyone else find this useful?
