Nope,
IR requires operating system to function. Flashing can only be done by cable coz it's sends raw binary data straight to the phone's chips without the need of operating system.

Is it possible to download the latest firmware over the internet, and install it to the phone yourself. Instead of going to a Service Point.?
One of my friends has a data cable, so i can do it from his computer.

Theoretically yes, but you have to pay someone to use the program to flash that downloaded firmware onto the phone.
