Hi all

I am new to this board, so go easy on me

I bought my P800 sim free quite a while ago now, and I know my software on it is old. I just wondered if anyone had the same problem I have got... I had a T68i before this one and knew the configuration for connecting to the Internet using GPRS (I am on O2 in the UK). I did the configuration myself on the P800 and after a while managed to connect! I've been using the internal webbrowser on it for quite some time now.

Problem is, I can't get ANY other program working on the Internet than the standard web browser that comes installed with the P800. I tried Opera, and two messenger clients. The settings don't look anything special, I can't see any reason why nothing else would work. This is what brings me to the problem of my firmware version. I wonder if this is the problem rather than my settings.

I am using:

PDA = R1G05
Phone = R1D
BT = R2C
CDA = R2A04

Its nothin to do with your phone mate.As you say your on o2 uk i can presume the settings you have are for wap.Gprs internet is only available to pay monthly subscribers.O2 have a gateway block on the gprs wap so you can only access wap pages or the o2.co.uk web site. This is why it dont work with 3rd party apps such as IM,opera and so forth. use dialup instead. :) This message was posted from a Nokia 7650

No, sorry I should have said.

I do indeed pay a monthly subscription for Internet access via GPRS. before moving to the P800 I used to use a Pocket PC via Bluetooth to my P68i. This worked fine for all applications on all protocols.

As far as O2 are concerned, I have not changed anything. They have not even been informed that I am now using a P800 since its nothing to do with them (SIM free). So theres no reason why other apps shouldn't work.

As a further note, I can view normal web content using the internal browser, not just wap content.

@Jezzza234

What wap profiles do you have set up?

I have :-

Orange GPRS
Orange GPRS Wap
Orange MMS
Orange Wap

Obviously swap O2 for Orange in your case, Opera uses the 'Orange GPRS' profile, so look and see if you the O2 equivelant setup.

Control panel ~ Wap accounts

Sounds as if your o2 account isnt being recognised by the browser (Opera) only thing i can recommend is geting the o2 web settings frm their site (they are there, just buried very well) and re entering them

Well I tried what you said... deleted the accounts that were set up (wrote the settings down though) and then called O2 and asked them for my correct settings.

It appears that I was actually using 02 WAP settings and not 02 Web! Dunno how I was able to view normal websites then!

Anyway, I now have 02 web set up, but the trouble is it still won't work All it does is connect happily (I get the globe appear and also the handset with a cross in it) then both disappear again after a few seconds. No error message, it just disconnects and I don't get the webpage I requested. Its rly weird. I wonder if its an a/c problem at 02's end, but they assure me its all set up correctly.

Is there anyone else using 02 Web on a P800? If so, I'd rly appreciate u posting the settingsa u're using

Err.....

*not sure whether to brave showing my face around here now*

I can't believe how thick I was!! When I put in the APN I put in 02.co.uk not o2.co.uk!!!

Sorry guys, but I changed it and now everything works!!
