After you change your time zone (Control Panel), the calendar entries don't update to reflect the now local time.

Any suggestions?

Thanks but my issue is different.

If you ever take your P800 and travel to a different time zone, once you change your P800 to display the local time, you would think all of your appointments will reflect the corresponding local time. For example, you set up an appointment at home for a weekly conference call for 2:00pm every Monday. This week you need to travel to another country that is one hour ahead. Once arrive, you reset the time zone in the Control Panel to the new location that is one hour ahead. Guess what, your Calendar still shows the meeting at 2:00pm - it doesn't recognize the fact that you are in a new time zone and the conference call should be at 1:00pm instead.

This is quite disappointing since most of the other PDAs have been able to handle automatic time zone conversion for a long time. Yes, you can re-sync it with your laptop. However, that would be such a big hassle.

I hope there is a solution/firmware update for this since it is really a pain for those who travel a lot and have to manage time-zone specific appointments for conference calls, etc.

Afterall, it is a "mobile" phone/PDA, right? Any input will be greatly appreciated!

@ Jackyochan

I guess that the p800 calendar only follows basing on your Home time zone, then the only way you could solve your problem maybe is to place the adjusted time beside the entry ( e.g. Meeting is at 2:00 pm Singapore time, but on Tokyo it’s already 3:00pm, then it would look like this:

2 Meeting ( 3:00 pm Tokyo)
3
4
5
6
7 Dinner ( 8:00 pm Tokyo )

This is the only way that I can think of.

Thank you @cdcjr!

I just wanted to confirm it is not my imagination. It is a problem. Although your idea is good, it doesn't work very well in my situation since I sync my calendar with my laptop from the company and other people can schedule appointments for me and I can't make them add the additional information in the calendar entries.

The only solution that I can think of is to re-sync (doing a forced override) everything once you arrive at the new location after your laptop gets adjusted for the correct local time. Lotus Notes does it automatically. But this approach has it drawbacks as well since you have to first sync any new appointments from your P800 to the PC with the old time zone and forced sync them back to the P800 with the new time zone. PAIN!!!

It looks like the calendar data file doesn't have a date element to record the time zone location. I hope SE can fix it with the firmware. But still it is such an oversight in the design.

I hope SE will somehow fix this - or in the P810/P900.

I had the same problem too after getting back from the US. It's unfortunate that we can't go back and update the existing calendar entries, but I'm hoping that they got this fixed with the new Pxxx phones.

Did they?
