I got a new PC but it wont play dvd's,it's a hp pavilion 750n,p4,2.4Ghz.
It tries to play but then i get an error message telling me to send error report to microsoft.com.
This happens when trying to launch a dvd in any of the following, windows media player 9 series, intervideo windvd and realone player.
Question is do i need to download anything??????
Btw,i checked the region and it is correct, please someone help me out here cus my ps2 stopped playing dvd's month's ago so i need something to play them in,thank's,boyi

Normally pcs that can play DVDs come with everything you need to play them, especially from the big names like HP, sony etc etc.
HP support is really good so I would give them a call or send them an email. In all cases they have replied to me within a few hours.

I've got a seperate cd and dvd drive and these players, windows media player series 9,intervideo win dvd, realplayer one, quicktime player and even a program called filmspeed for dvd's.
Since i posted this thread i've downloaded trial version's of intervideo platinum 5 and dvd x player but i thought there was free full versions of some sort out there (that dont stop after 10 minutes:) ),so if someone could post a direct link (if there is one) ,i would very much appreciate it

Try Kazaa and look for PowerDVD 5 (the latest version) not 6 as alot of ppl have on Kazaa as this is prob a trojan.
Also do not d/l any PowerDVDs by F.O.S.I as they contain a Trojan.

it sounds like something more subtle than the actual programs not being able to play your dvds, as they don't generate the xp error report 'send/ don't send' dialogue.
it could be a driver issue (would affect any such program) best check with technical support. i've found the dell discussion forums really useful- probably hp have something similar.
or it could be the machine of satan...
if you wanna try powerDVD 4, pm me. it may not be the latest version but it's about the best i've found. got it bundled with my dvd-rw, so u can be sure it's a non-infectious original
