which is the best encoder for this? i tried quicktime 6.3 with 3gpp but i cant open divx files with it. tried nokia multimedia converter but that takes forever! ne1 know a way of converting divx to 3gpp? thx

Import the divx in something like adobe premiere then go to export movie, in video dropdown list choose quicktime. Then import that into quicktime and save that as .3gp. But there’s no difference between 3gp and mpeg4 in quality iv tried both on my P800 file sizes are the same and playback is to even at full screen

The difference is not in the video - it's in the prebuffering and packeting, which is designed for mobile systems. I run a streaming server with 3gpp and mpeg4, and playback live - over the server - is generally more reliable under 3gpp.
If life was an easy as it looks, we'd all be happy - right?
That all said - QuickTime export to 3GPP is the easiest way to get a standards-compliant video file for the P800
