Yes, the new firmware (R1L) has better java implemenation!
Taken from dev:
"We have focused all Java efforts in this release towards game performance and we believe the outcome is a success".
This is really a good thing since the phone was slow before. But we are still waiting for more APIs support!!!!

Street fighter's cr@p. If you really want it go to www(dot)midlet(dot)org. I've just ran JBenchmark and get pretty much the same score as R1A, around 260, which is way short of the 590 my 7210 is averaging.

wants you to use Mophun, which is by the way much better implemented (on T610)
