i think its just a Game Gear with a built in phone, look at the style of it, this is a Sega with a nokia badge, just my 2 cents

I think the handset is HUUUUGE... I much rather preferr the P800 than N'Gage. And if I should drop to the point where I wanted a real gaming device, I would most certainly buy a game boy advance sp, or wait till sony psp comes out on the market (I'm veeery patient...)

You think the handset is huge...
Well, wait till you hold one. There is this N-Gage tour starting
http://www.n-gage.com/tour/index.html , and you can judge by yourself. It is much smaller than I had expected. It is also very thin, and convenient to hold (except when you're on a phone call though but you get used to that after some time)
I also expected P800 to be huge, until I did hold one...

Negative things about N'Gage:
- battery capacity. If you're gonna use the "phone" for its main purpose (gaming), you'd better stay close to the power adapter
- it's display. Only 4096 colors, and the format of the display sucks (it is higher than it's wide!) But its 3D capabilities are very positive. Maybe a 65k display would be impossible on such a phone, as Nokia are trailing when it comes to batteries.
- if you want to write sms, and do other stuff on the phone, it's extremely difficult to do it with only one hand. E.g. you gotta pull over to the side if you drive and want to write an sms. (based on my experiences with my friends 3300, which actually is smaller than N'gage...)
- if the memcard system is like the 3300/3650, where you have to take off the battery in order to change memcard, it is truly catastrophic...
- no flight mode. On the airplane is, to me, one of the few places that gaming devices really come in handy...
Positive:
- as mentioned its 3D support
- in all it's an advanced phone (bluetooth, mp3, fm radio and the usual stuff)

Well, I partly agree to that. Though I play while commuting for instance, and I always put the phone to charge when at work anyway so it's not quite a problem.

4k colors are good. Just try some games yourself and you will see... Of course 65k is better, I don't argue about that, but 4k is already quite nice. By comparison, GBA displays either 511 color in character mode or 32k colors in bitmap mode.
As to the screen orientation, it seems a bit awkward at first, but believe me, you can have really nice things even with a vertical screen..

SMS writing need to be done with two hands (to hold the phone). But I've come quite familiar to using other functions with one hand. It's clearly not as convenient as a candy-bar style phone I agree.

Yes you need to do that. I wouldnt call this catastrophic though. There is only one slot for the memcard, so that's the way it needs to be done.

Oh yes, there is a flight mode.

Internal memory has also nothing to compare with GBA. While GBA has a few kbytes, N-Gage has quite many MBytes (and I'm not talking about memory cards).
Games are impressive (yes, its comparable to PSone quality on a mobile device), and are definitely better than what is on GBA, for having tried quite a few GBA games and early N-Gage games.

If it's not catastrophic what is it? I find it at least completely ridiculous and stupid...
