I downloaded the Currency Converter 1.1 by Stefan Berglund from My-Symbian.The freeware one. It works well but when I try to update the currencies it launches the GPRS connection but it is unable to get data; and after five minutes the connection just times out and nothing is downlaoded or uploaded. I know many of you have this currency converter so are you facing the same problem? Is there any solution? My GPRS connection is fine I can browse the net (not wap) using the browser but only the currency data don't get downloaded.

I searched the posts and found a related post but can't find a solution.
So please help. Thanks in advance

As 'njabe567', says, use WolrdMate, it's excellent software, with loads of other neat features (5 day weather forecasts for world cities).

I use Currency Converter with no problems. It only takes about 6kb to update the currencies. It's a very handy program really. I haven't tried Worldmate- would it have weather for Adelaide, Australia?

@Bogus Jimmy

Yep - for each of the 5 cities simultaneously visible on the 'clocks' screen, a little weather icon is visible for each city where a 5 day forecast can be downloaded from the 'net. Adelaide has the icon, so you can connect and update for you hometown...

Also, you can set the currency converter to auto-update at intervals of up to 2 days (or never).

Check out the trial software from my-symbian etc:

Cheers,

Steven.

Thanks Steve,

As soon as I asked my question I realised I should just try it for myself. The currency converter in Worldmate is indeed superior to Currency Converter (although maybe a little complicated) and all the other features are quite nifty. Just out of interest, it was only 3kb to update the currencies but 22kb to get the 5 day weather forecast. A great program overall- I just bought it.

Edit: Just one question; what is "Auto Set DST" in Preferences?

Glad you liked it - it was the first app i bought; I'd just wish it'd ditch the registration options, once you've registered your copy!

Can't say as I've used the weather forecast aspect too much, so can't comment on the dataload required, but i'm off my hols soon, so the full set of features will get a working over then.

EDIT 1: Ahhh, the 'Autoset DST' feature....I've absolutely no idea what this is - something that GPRS-connects from time to time though - so I turned it off. Maybe it's something that checks in with the Atomic clock wotsit from time to time. Sorry I can't offer any further insight....

EDIT 2: Bingo http://www.mobimate.com/p800/worldmate/manual.shtml#Preferences

Cheers,

Steven.

Hi guys thanks all for your suggestions. I bought this worldmate yesterday and its working fine apart from the fact that I can't update the currency details. When I cick it to update the dialog box comes up and the gprs globe starts rotating but no data will be uploaded or downloaded. I rechecked the GPRS settings and actually reinstalled using the autosetup message 02 send me. Still no luck I contacted the 02 guys and all they did is send me a new autosetup message which I am still waiting to receive. I searched this forum for half an hour and found that none of the GPRS posts answers my question. As you have figured by now I am on 02 in UK. By the way I can see normal web pages in the p800 browser as on a computer. Could some one please help me.
@ sps
I been to the link you provided, just to make sure I understood it corectly, it will check the summer time with the system time only, right? not with some outside website using GPRS?

@anish

You need to use the 'data' APN GPRS a/c, like you would use for email... Just checked now; the wap GPRS fails, the data GPRS updates nicely...

Steven.

Interestingly - the weather here in London is 31C and sunny,while Sydney and NY have crap weather! LOL
